Biography

A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, and artisticly encouraged by parents, Tony Maxymillian studied at Kutztown State University. A tour of duty with the US Air Force took him to the Northwest United States where he continued learning at Boise State University in a writing program. After publishing several stories and features in small magazines, Maxymillian settled in Portland, OR where he again took up drawing, eventually pursuing art full time. His drawings are available and occassionally shown in and around Portland.

Artist's Statement

Beauty lies in detail. My work is an effort to see more detail in the world around me. I draw the details I see in shades of gray, exploring the exchange of light and shadow. The subjects I choose are often friends, special places, or meaningful things. Some of my images attempt to document a subject in its entirety, while others just hint at form. In all, the beauty is complete.
